My Grandparents, John & Edna, were pioneers in La Plata County, CO. They homesteaded on the Florida Mesa and both wrote articles for the Durango Herald, and for the book, Pioneers of the San Juan Basin. They were active in the Grange and in the community. They had 8 children: John, Helen, Hugh, twins Donald & Douglas, Andrew (my father), Jean and Allen. One son, Donald, died from a ruptured appendix as a child.
