Services for Benjamin Watson Leavitt, 83 of Cortez, will be held Monday at the Ertel Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery.
Mr. Leavitt was born in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas on January 7, 1892. He died at his home in Yellow Jacket on May 2. He had been an area resident since 1911.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Yellow jacket; two sons, Bob of Oxnard, Calif. and Dell of El Paso, Tex.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Stella and Hazel Leavitt of Roy, Utah.

Funeral services for Georgia O. Leavitt, 94, of Cortez, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today.
Mrs. Leavitt was born Nov. 29, 1902, to Della (Beaman) Watson and Lutiford (Luther) Watson in Chandler, Okla.
She arrived in the Yellow Jacket area with her parents and brother in 1913, and the family homesteaded about five miles west of Yellow Jacket. She died July 6, 1997, a the Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin W. Leavitt; an infant daughter, Joyce; a daughter, Marjie Dines, and son, Delbert Leavitt. She is survived by a son, Roy R. "Bob" Leavitt of Yellow Jacket and his family; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
